hey everyone! the response to my call has been awesome. i know elisa's been really touched and i'm confident that this blanket will be beautiful.
to thank you all for participating, i'm going to have a little contest. for every square i receive from you, i'll put your name into a hat (or bowl or bag) and award some prizes. how's that? i might have more than one prize even.
so, we need a deadline for the contest...how about thursday, february 14th. yep, that's valentines day. i bet you didn't know i could be a bit of a sentimental sap.
My e-mail program ate all the e-mails in my in-box...could you please send me the address again...I'm going to PO on Wednesday...thanks...

I have finished my square. Just one unfortunately, but hopefully it will help. Where would you like me to send it?

I'll surely knit a square or two! Just email me your address! [email protected]

What a delight, as I'm reading your blog, to see my 'paca boys in your sidebar. They look great with apples! That's Sueno (brown) and Diego (white). Thanks for making me smile!

I'm working on squares... I'm super jazzed to see it all come together!

Just when I think that I people couldn't rock any harder...well, they do.
And I totally know you're a sentimental sap. That's one of the (many) reasons I love you.
xo
I'll throw in some handspun, too. I'll figure out yardages and the rest of the deets tonight and email you.

Do you know how many sky pix I take? And do you know how long I could sit outside with my camera and never get that shot? Longer than I've got, that's how long.
Yay! I love knitting squares. (Really.) If I could make 10 for Pine Street Inn, just imagine how many I can do for this. I predict that you will be inundated with squares and have to hold a seaming party. I'll be there.

I'll be glad to donate a couple skeins of Claudia's Hand Painted Yarn, fingering weight. Just tell me where to mail it!
I made one square this weekend; now I'm eyeing this absolutely gorgeous sapphire blue lone ball of superwash in my stash....

Ditto Carole's question. I finished my square the other day.

My square is getting started tonight.
A friend let me know about her dad and I wanted to help.

i have a feeling that Elisa's dad is going to get a king size bed spread at this rate!
well done!

I believe the term is sundog or brocken spectre that Mintifresh was looking for regarding the "rainbow splurt" in the clouds.
Great idea regarding the contest!
Posted by: Manise | January 26, 2008 at 12:32 AM
What's that called, that little rainbow splurt? There's a name for that phenomenon, right? Whatever it is, i LIKE it.
And I'm saddened with myself to realize that the prospect of a prize makes me want to knit a square more than I did before . . .

I totally knew you were a sap.
;-)
B&W film this weekend!

fantastic! I have my yarn, now just pondering over what stitch, where did I put my Treasury of Knitting Patterns...

oh you are too sweet. I am so happy you got such a great response. I can't wait to see the final product. Good luck and have a great weekend.

Can you send me the address where I need to mail squares? I plan to work on some squares this weekend. Thanks.
Posted by: Wanda | January 25, 2008 at 02:12 PM
I started my square last night. :-)
Posted by: Beth S. | January 25, 2008 at 01:09 PM
I'll mention it Monday!
Posted by: Chris | January 25, 2008 at 12:35 PM
That sounds like a positively wonderful idea. I like your picture, too. :-)
Posted by: Jen in CT | January 25, 2008 at 12:20 PM
Well I guess I'll have to knit more than just the one! Off to dig out more superwash!
Posted by: Kirsten | January 25, 2008 at 12:12 PM
Cool picture! It's the superwash thing that's getting me; I hardly have any superwash! Perhaps a trip to the yarn shop is in order.

So do you need the squares by the 14th? Or sooner?
Posted by: Cathi | January 25, 2008 at 11:44 AM
I'd love to donate something - how about a skein of handspun? I've heard mine is passable...
Posted by: JessaLu | January 25, 2008 at 11:32 AM
I've got yarn for a couple of squares. Don't tell the Mafia, but I've still got a bunch of seaming left on her blanket. Wanna have a seaming party?
