yes i am. because i got a gold medal at cara's olympic closing ceremonies party (you know the one -- the one with the topless barbie). and if i have a medal, it must be true.
as you've all heard already, the party was great. there was good food, fun conversation, and beer (and topless barbies). but it was also educational. here's a couple of things that i learned.
1. grumperina knits really tiny thing. really she does! we all ooh and aahh about how beautiful her work is and how prolific she is, but the real truth is that her shawls ... they're doll shawls. we know, because we saw one. her socks? tiny little baby socks. really. the hats? fit on my thumb. craziness. this of course takes nothing away from her exquisite work. it just gives one pause.
2. carole's husband dale is a trooper. he's nice, and funny, and comfortable among 30,000 women who talk about yarn. plus, he brings the beer and the bottle opener. do not invite carole without dale. carole's nice and all, but she doesn't bring the beer.
3. there is WAY more drama in blogland than i could ever imagine. where have i been? do i not read the right blogs? has my habit of skimming long posts come back to bite me in the ass? WHY DON'T I KNOW MORE?! eh. i'm so out of the loop.
4. all drawings and contests are fixed. i did not win one prize on sunday. and i'm bitter about it.
Blogland is filled with just as much, if not more, drama than high school. You do well to avoid it. I read for a) humor, b) cute pics of cats/dogs/pets, and c) the YARN PORN in various forms (either knit up or fresh from the ball winder... i'm not picky).
Glad you were a winner!

Those who cannot be bothered with blogdrama say, "pass me a cold one."

Now I'm the jealous one. Sounds like opening and closing ceremonies were both So. Much. Fun! :)

Ooooh, drama? And you're not *sharing*???? Email me privately, post haste, woman.

And then, and then... because, you know, I model the knitted goods, put the socks on my feets, and the hats on my head, and the shawls on my shoulders... so because of that, most certainly I shrink myself to make them appear regular-sized. That's the secret! We could all get so much more done if we just knit miniature.

Now, c'mon. WHO do you think gave him the money to buy the beer? Hmmmm? And did you happen to notice that bottle opener? It was a Wheaton College bottle opener, back from when Dale wouldn't have been allowed to go to Wheaton. I'm just saying.

Wish I could have made it on Sunday. I was too technically incompetent to open the directions. There's lots of drama in junior high, I mean blogland. I usually stop reading the drama-blogs, I have no interest in being part of their audience.

Damn, I left too early. AGAIN.
Dale is a real trooper, that's for sure. Yay to Dale!

I'm kind of relieved I don't know about the drama, actually. Ignorance is bliss.
Sounds like you Olympians had quite a blast! Though again, I'm not sure I want to know what the deal with the Barbie was. ;-)

blogland is just a microcosm of humanity - plenty of drama, just not worth taking too seriously :)

Drama Shrama! It IS all about the LOVE! Thanks for coming out to the party - sorry if the topless barbie scarred you for life.

I must be out of loop too. I've been missing the drama, I thought there was lots of love in blogland.
